“Living in the Galilee is nice because it is quiet, with less cars and attacks than the rest of Israel. But the only thing special to me about this land is that it is where I live. I would feel the same about the land if I lived in Europe or anywhere. If this land was for everyone, Japanese or whoever, then it would be a better place because Palestinians and Jews would stop attacking each other.

Everybody has a right to this land – the whole world. I don’t think that even my grandma who survived the Holocaust thinks that just because of the Holocaust we need a homeland just for Jews. There isn’t another thing like this in the rest of the world. There are many countries for Arabs, and India has many religions, but there is no other country that is just for one people. Jews chose this place because of all the holy places. But I think that it would have been much better if the Jews made their homeland in Uganda, one of the countries that was considered, because it’s a giant country and the Jews wouldn’t have had to take land away from anyone like they did from the Arabs here. Well, it would have been hot in Uganda, but we would be living in peace.

I would feel better about a Jewish homeland if there was peace between Jews and Arabs. I think if Itzhak Rabin was alive today, we would have peace. Where I live near the Lebanese border we all get along. We learned to become really good friends through our Neighbors project where Jewish, Arab and Circassion kids from the area have gotten to really know each other. I think that even though the Neighbors project is small, it should be an example for all of Israel of how we can coexist.”
